APEX NEURO specialist Laura working on voice and swallow rehabilitation for severe stroke

Although traditional speech and voice rehab can be beneficial, in the cases of advanced and progressive conditions such as Motor Neurone Disease / ALS, or after a certain window with stroke, traditional therapies are limited in their effectiveness.

We use cutting edge technologies and a specialist methodology to restore and improve vital functions including speech, swallow, breathing and facial/throat muscle control.

The video shows a client who had a severe stroke 1 year ago retraining the complex systems involved in drinking and swallowing. Laura is stimulating the muscles and systems involved, while also working on the throat, soft palette and facial muscles to aid with speech.

Unlike many approaches, the window of time since the stroke doesn't prevent us from making progress. Many of our clients have reached a plateau in their recovery, or been told they will not improve, before working with us.
